Jewelers Course


 
Have you always dreamed of designing your own jewelry but weren't sure where to begin? Do you look longingly at jewelry and think "I wish I could do that"? 
If you are new to jewelry-making and are interested in the craft, then this course is perfect for you.
 
Learn from a professional jewelry artist with over 30 years' experience. Sara will guide you through fundamental techniques throughout each session as you build a broad skill base for getting started.
 
Using a variety of materials, learn to create beautiful, timeless jewelry that is unique to you. 
 
By the time you have completed this course you could set up your own home studio and carry on creating !
 
The classes are run for a maximum of 8 students per group. During each lesson we will gradually introduce new tools, materials and learn their various uses.
Sara will provide each student with his or her own basic tool set and a notebook for drawing. These are yours to take home as a reference at the completion of this course.
 
All courses at the artist's studio on Moshav Mevo Modiim, Israel
 
Course duration - 12 classes
All tools and materials provided.
Each weekly session - 3 hours. Cost for all 12 sessions = 4,500 shekels
Places are limited, flexible hours ( bring a friend or come as a group and get a discount, special discount for soldiers and pensioners)

LESSON PLAN
 
1. Welcome to the studio. Meet your teacher Sara. Open your tool kit and notebook. Introduction to different materials and hand tools. What are these used for? Learn your way around the workplace.
 
2. Discover wire-working. Using hand tools. Recognize different types of wire and how they can be used. How to form simple loops and spirals. Shaping and hardening wire.
 
3.Tree of Life pendant. Using wire and stone chip beads. Getting to grips with the pliers.
 
4.How to make your own pair of earring wires that really match, using sterling silver and gold filled wire.Making earrings. Learn how to construct, form and prepare different components. Make a matching pair of earrings.

6.Cascade earrings. Learn how to make this style of earring using wire, jump rings, stone beads and metal posts.

7..Bead threading. How to make caged wire beads. Stringing and crimping. Select materials for a beaded necklace.

8..make necklace from beads. Using semi-precious stone, crystal, metal and glass beads.

9. Making chain charm bracelet. Using a selection of ready-made chain we will prepare different kinds of charms to attach and make a bracelet.

10 Drawing and designing ideas for next wire-work project: A wire-wrapped pendant. Selecting materials. Shaping the wire.Practice making the components for your pendant.

11..Wire-wrapped pendant. Using your drawings as a reference, make the pendant and a necklace for it from sterling silver chain.
